World record holder, Tobi Amusan made Nigeria proud on Monday, 15 September, 2025, winning a silver medal in the final of the Women 100m Hurdles at the ongoing World Athletic Championship in Tokyo, Japan, reports thegazellenews.com
It was a very competitive race with Tobi coasting home in an impressive time of 12.29 seconds behind the winner Diraji Kambundji who clocked 12.24 to win the gold medal.

Grace Stark of the United States of America won the Bronze medal in a time of 12.34s while Masai Russell finished 4th in 12.44s.
Thegazellenews.com reports further that Amusan had made her intention known earlier in her second semi final heat coasting home in 12.36sec to win and qualify for the final.
Thegazellenews.com also reports that Amusan’s silver is the only medal of any colour won by Nigeria at the ongoing championship, which has already surpassed the previous edition in Budapest where Nigeria failed to win any medal.
The silver medal outing, thegazellenews.com reports, banished the memory of the last Olympics for Amusan where she failed to reach the final of the event.
