The Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Bala Wunti Support Organisation (BWSO), Prof. Abubakar Umar Kari, has reiterated that the Organisation will continue to serve the people of Bauchi State irrespective of the political aspirations of its founder, Dr. Bala Maijama’a Wunti, who sought the gubernatorial ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

He explained that while BWSO emerged from the vision and commitment of its founder, it was never conceived merely as a platform for advancing the political ambition of one individual, but emphasized that the Organisation is developed as a broad-based and enduring institution committed to promoting good governance, responsible citizenry, leadership development, mentorship, civic engagement, philanthropy and initiatives that contribute to the social and economic development of Bauchi State.

A press statement issued by the Chief Communication Officer of Bala Wunti Support Organisation, Abubakar Al-Sadique which was made available to Journalists on Tuesday, said the Board Chairman made the remarks on Tuesday, 6 October, 2026, in Bauchi during a working visit to the headquarters of the Organisation. stressed that the enduring relevance of BWSO would not be determined by the political fortunes or aspirations of any individual, but by its ability to remain responsive to the needs of citizens and make meaningful contributions to the development of Bauchi State.

Prof. Kari assured that BWSO had come to stay as a major platform for leadership recruitment, mentorship and civic engagement, explaining that the Organisation was established following extensive deliberations among concerned citizens of Bauchi State on how to build effective coalitions, transform grievances into organised and constructive participation, harness data for better decision-making, and transform political campaigns into sustainable institutions capable of contributing to development beyond electoral cycles.

The Board Chairman assured that BWSO had come to stay as a major platform for leadership recruitment, mentorship and civic engagement, and explained that the Organisation was conceived through extensive consultations among concerned citizens of Bauchi State who sought to develop stronger ways of building coalitions, turning citizens’ concerns and grievances into constructive participation, using data to support better decision-making, and transforming the energy generated during political campaigns into sustainable institutions that can continue to contribute to the development of the State beyond electoral periods.

He maintained that the long-term relevance of BWSO would therefore be determined not by the political fortunes of any individual, but by its capacity to remain responsive to the needs of citizens and contribute meaningfully to the development of the State.

Prof. Kari expressed confidence that Bala Wunti Support Organisation had grown beyond its founder and was increasingly developing into a movement and institution capable of contributing to the repositioning of Bauchi State and addressing some of the persistent gaps in governance and citizen participation.

He noted that the Organisation was intended to provide a platform through which citizens from different backgrounds could participate in development, promote accountability, develop leadership capacity and support initiatives that improve the lives of ordinary people, assuring that the strength of BWSO lies in its ability to institutionalise these values and ensure that its programmes and interventions remain relevant beyond individual political interests or electoral considerations.

He said Dr. Bala Wunti, the founder of BWSO, has demonstrated a strong commitment to philanthropy and will continue to use the Organisation as a major umbrella through which his philanthropic activities are coordinated and extended to communities in Bauchi State and beyond.

Prof. Kari explained that among the various organisations supported by Dr. Wunti, BWSO occupies a particularly important position because of its broad mandate and its potential to translate philanthropic commitment into structured and sustainable interventions that benefit the wider society, and added that the founder’s political aspirations will not be allowed to overshadow the broader institutional purpose and developmental potential of the Bala Wunti Support Organisation.

The Board Chairman commended the leadership of the Chief Executive Officer, Arc. Muktar Jarmajo, for what he described as the significant progress recorded by the Organisation in a relatively short period, noting that BWSO had distinguished itself through interventions and initiatives designed to impact the lives of ordinary citizens across different sectors,

While stressing that the Organisation had demonstrated the potential of a well-structured citizens’ platform to contribute to development outside the conventional structures of government, the Board Chairman expressed satisfaction with the innovative programmes being developed by the management.

He described the innovations as initiatives capable of giving BWSO a distinctive identity among organisations operating in the State, urging the management to ensure that such initiatives were translated from concepts into practical programmes and fully implemented in accordance with the Organisation’s core mandate, particularly where they were designed to improve the living conditions of the underprivileged, opportunities and participation of the people of Bauchi State.

Responding, the Chief Executive Officer of Bala Wunti Support Organisation, Arc. Muktar Jarmajo, thanked the Board Chairman for the visit and said that, within its relatively short period of existence, BWSO has evolved into a strong institution serving as a broad platform for development, civic engagement, community intervention, leadership recruitment and mentorship.

Jarmajo explained that the Organisation had reached thousands of people across different parts of the State through initiatives aimed at responding to community needs, empowering citizens and supporting efforts that contribute to improved living conditions, and attributed the achievements of the Organisation to the cooperation, guidance and strategic support received from the Board.

The CEO stressed that the progress recorded so far was the product of collective effort rather than the work of any single individual, stressing that the management was deliberately building BWSO as an institution with systems, structures and values capable of surviving changes in leadership and management with the ultimate objective of establishing an organisation that will outlive its present Board and Management and continue to serve as a sustainable platform for good governance, responsible citizenship, leadership development, social intervention and inclusive participation in the development of Bauchi State.
