Yetunde Kuti, wife of Grammy-nominated musician, Seun Kuti, has opened up about the initial obstacles she faced when considering marriage to the Kuti family.
Speaking on Your View on TVC, Yetunde shared the concerns and mlsunderstandings her family harboured.

In the interview, Yetunde revealed her family’s apprehensions about her union with Seun Kuti and how they cautloned her agalnst it.
She said that despite their reservations, she went agalnst their advice and tied the knot with the singer.
During the conversation, the dancer disclosed that her family held preconceived notions about her husband based on the polygamous history of Seun’s father, Fela Kuti.
According to her, her relatives warned her about potentially becoming one of many wives, comparing it to Fela Kuti’s marrriages.
Despite the warnings, Yetunde emphasised that she chose to challenge societal stereotypes and misconceptions surrounding marriage.
She said: I have always had the idea of not wanting to be married, and my family was expecting me not to get marrried, especially to Seun. I grew up with people whose marrlages were not stable and looked at it from their perspective, and I realized that everybody has their own reasons their marrlages didn’t work, and people can’t just continue like that.”
“There’s a sacrlfice that one has to make, but some people don’t want to make the sacrlfice. My family said my life would end if I married Seun Kuti and that I would just be one of his 35 wlves. They said his father married many wlves and that he would marry more than him.”
