The Chief of Staff to the President, Abba Kyari, is dead.
Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, confirmed this in a press statement.
Adesina said the Chief of Staff to Nigeria’s President, Muhammadu Buhari, died on Friday, 17 April, 2020.
He said, “The Presidency regrets to announce the passage of the Chief of Staff to the President, Mallam Abba Kyari.
“The deceased had tested positive to the ravaging COVID-19, and had been receiving treatment. But he died on Friday, April 17, 2020.
“Funeral arrangements will be announced later”.
Abba Kyari was one of the first high level govenrment official to be infected by the virus.
He was reported to have contacted the virus when he led a team to Germany on official assignment.
