A Federal High Court in Abuja, presided over by Justice Obiora Egwuatu on Thursday, 29 0ctober, 2026 has ordered the Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodinma to immediately stop presenting himself as the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, (APC), for the Imo West Senatorial District in the 2027 general elections, reports thegazellenews.com.
Justice Egwuatu gave the order on Thursday after holding that Uzodinma did not win the May 18 primary election conducted by the APC and monitored by INEC.
According to the judge, evidence presented before the court proved that former Governor Rochas Okorocha actually won majority of the votes cast at the poll and should be published winner of the election.
Based on this, the judge subsequently ordered the APC to forward Okorocha’s name to the Independent National Electoral Council(INEC) as candidate of the APC in the 2027 general elections for Imo West Senatorial election.
Egwuatu, who also ordered INEC to immediately accept Okorocha as lawful candidate for APC and publish same, also added that most of the documents used to nominate Uzodinma were fabricated in breach of the 1999 Constitution and the Electoral Act.
Uzodinma is the incumbent Governor of Imo state and his tenure will lapse on January 14, 2028.
