As part of its corporate social responsibility and contributions towards mitigating the health hazards and hardships caused by the global pandemic COVID-19, Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) PLC  has earmarked N100 million for the donation of relief items.
This was made known on Wednesday, 8 April, 2020 by the Chief Operating Officer of the company, Engineer John Ayodele during the presentation of relief items to the Oyo State Government.
Apart from this, the company, according to Ayodele who was represented by the Regional Head for Ibadan, Engineer Peter Oyelami, is also donating N5 million to the University College Hospital (UCH) for the purchase of critical medical supplies needed to fight the pandemic.
The IBEDC team handed over 2500 50kg bags of rice, 3000 1kg bags of semovita and 1500 cartoons of Indomie noodles to the Oyo State team of the state Commissioner for Agriculture, Hon Muyiwa Ojekunle; and his Energy counterpart, Barrister Temi Ashamu.
The COO said the  board, management and staff of Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) whilst applauding  the proactive measures the federal government and the state Governors and their lieutenants have put in place in the fight against the Coronavirus Pandemic, “realize that we need to join hands with the government like other public spirited Nigerians and organizations have done in the fight against COVID-19.
“Specifically, we are donating food items worth N10 million for Oyo state. These donations are being replicated across all the states within our coverage area throughout the week and the next.
“In addition to this, we have committed to providing our customers regular power supply as much as it is within our remit and control. Also, we shall not disconnect non- paying customers during this period except it is based on safety advice. Our staff on essential duty,  the technical crew are on ground to clear faults promptly. All this is being done to support the various government initiatives and help reduce the hardship the lockdown has occasioned on the citizens”.
