Eight years old Akinduro Oluwapamilerin led individual and corporate donors into the Kwara State anti-COVID-19 Fund to fight the spread of the deadly Coronavirus to the state.
The Gazelle News.com reports that Kwara is one of the states in Nigeria which has not recorded any confirmed case of coronavirus in its domain.
Eight years old Oluwapamilerin donated his saving of N1,120 to the fund.
Others who have contributed to the fund include: Tuyil Pharmaceuticals Limited which donated N10 million; Mr Yusuf Alli, SAN, who has donated N5 million and HMA Medical Limited which donated N2 million.
Others include: the Head of Service and Forum of Serving Permanent Secretaries in Kwara State who donated 40% of their March salary; the Forum of Retired Permanent Secretaries which donated N500,000; and Boraj Pharmaceuticals which donated N1 million.
Similarly, OFM Charity Foundation in collaboration with the Yusuf Olaolu Ali Foundation which donated 2000 bottles of hand sanitizers; Ambassador Yahaya Seriki donated 720 bottles of sanitisers and DIG Bolanta who allowed his industrial sprayers to fumigate markets in the state.
The state government thus expressed appreciation to the donors particularly the eight-year-old boy.
“The government is definitely impressed by this rare show of altruism, and is confident of Pamilerin becoming a leader of his generation,” it stated.
Meanwhile, the State Technical Committee on Coronavirus (COVID-19) will Thursday night begin fumigation of markets across the state, a statement has said.
The fumigation takes place between 7p.m. and 11p.m.
“Fumigation is slated to begin across seven markets tonight (Thursday). These markets are Baboko Market; Oja Oba Market; Mandate Market; Ipata Market; Kulende Market; Ago Market; and Yoruba road Market,” Rafiu Ajakaye, spokesman of the technical committee, said in a statement in Ilorin, the state capital,
The statement said the committee had earlier consulted with market leaders in the state on the measure.
“The fumigation exercise will extend to other parts of the state in the coming days. It is part of the government’s holistic approach to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in Kwara State and keep the people safe,” it added.
