The Coalition of Oodua Self Determination Groups (COSEG) has advised Yoruba sons and daughters to adhere to all precautionary measures put in place by government at all levels to contain the spread of the deadly coronavirus.
The Group gave this advice in a press statement released on Sunday, 22 March, 2020 signed by its Chairman and Publicity Secretary: Dayo Ogunlana and Dele Daramola respectively.
The group said, “we have done our researches to really know the true nature and existence of this desease and we have come to the conclusion that it’s not only real but also deadly”.
The group therefore enjoined all Yoruba sons and daughters to adhere to the precautionary measures established by health authorities and government.
The group said, “having confirmed the danger inherent in the spread of this damning deasease, we call on our people to adhere strictly to measures laid down by government and also ensure they take their bath everyday and anytime with slice of bitter kola as this forms part of our discoveries on how to contain the disease.
We are calling on our various traditional rulers to direct their priests to continue to pray for their subjects and Nigeria in general while also calling on all pastors and imams to continue to pray for the good living of their people”.
The group said further that, “we specially call on our traditional fathers all over Yoruba land to direct the traditional priests to do all the needful so that this deasease will not continue to ravage our region and Nigeria, it must stop forthwith, while also calling on pastors, evangelists and imams to continue to pray for our people as their well-being is key.”
The group applauded the critical role being played by Lagos, Ogun states and Nigeria government in combating the ravaging plague. The group said, “we appreciate the functional roles and critical methods being used by Lagos and Ogun states and the Nigerian government in combating this plague. We therefore enjoin the government to continue to play their roles as they are doing. This plague must be adequately tamed. Hence, all measures neccesssary to be taken must be taken, while calling on our people to always be conscious of their immediate environment and sorrounding as proper report of any sign of this case should be reported to the neccesssary quarters. COSEG can also be of help in the communication of neccesssary information to the government ears quickly and urgently as the health of our people is very important and even a function of our economic progression.
The group added “we can be reached on any of the following contact addresses to report any case pertaining to this pandemic virus on 08066582896, 07082684414  or coseg2007@yahoo.com, ogunlana.dayo@yahoo.com“
