Sharon Ademefun, elder sister and Chief Financial Officer of Afrobeats star, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has revealed how she manages her brother’s finances and attempts to curb his spending on luxury cars and jewellery.
Ademefun spoke during an appearance on The Morayo Show, hosted by television presenter Morayo Afolabi-Brown, with the interview posted on YouTube on Tuesday, 22 September, 2026
She said she holds weekly financial meetings with Davido to review his spending and encourage greater financial discipline, although her warnings do not always stop him from acquiring expensive items.
“Davido and I sit and have a finance meeting every week because I think it is important for him to know how his money is being spent. I will now say, ‘David, please, no more cars,’” she said.
According to Ademefun, Davido sometimes ignores the warnings, with new luxury purchases appearing online shortly after she has asked him to cut back.
“No more jewellery. Twenty-four hours later, you know how they normally say it, ‘two to three business days’, I’ll just see on the blogs. This latest car,” she said.
Ademefun also explained that her involvement in Davido’s career dates back to its early stages, when she was part of his management team, describing her current role as a natural progression of that relationship.
She said their working relationship had sometimes been marked by disagreements because she was willing to challenge her brother when she believed it was necessary.
“The problem is that David and I were always fighting. If other people can’t tell him, me I’ll tell him. And so, I think the truth of the matter is it was a natural progression,” she said.
Ademefun said they eventually pursued separate professional paths before she returned to apply her business experience to help introduce greater structure into Davido’s operations.
“I think that we both needed to go off and do our own things. And now I can take what I’ve learned in business and then help him put structure into his business. So, it’s just more official,” she said.
When asked whether she was the person who knew details about Davido’s wealth, Ademefun declined to disclose confidential information, citing a non-disclosure agreement.
“I’ve signed a non-disclosure agreement! I can’t confirm or deny!” she said.
She also disclosed that Davido has a functional management team responsible for his day-to-day logistics, but said she sometimes intervenes when efforts to reduce costs could affect his comfort while travelling.
Ademefun recalled instances where attempts to cut travel costs had resulted in Davido requesting a different arrangement, including paying for first-class travel at the airport.
“You know, if you book him on an airline that doesn’t have a good first class, he can get to the airport and say, ‘Yeah, if you want me to go to an event, buy first class’… I’ve bought a ticket at the airport many times.
“Because maybe they tried to cut corners or cut costs somewhere. So, there’s lots of funny things,” she said.
Beyond her involvement in Davido’s career, Ademefun spoke about her own business, Body Politics, a clothing line she said she established after becoming frustrated by the limited clothing options available to women with different body types.
She said the brand offers clothing in sizes ranging from XXS to 5XL.
Ademefun said she was being cautious about expanding the business too quickly, preferring to consolidate and improve its existing operations.
“I think the next big thing is to do what I’m doing better. I don’t want to make the mistake of over-expanding too quickly, but I think you’re going to see more of me, more pop-ups, and more availability,” she said.
