The Lawmaker representing Lagos East Senatorial District in the Senate, Senator Sikiru Adebayo Osinowo, has described the support and prayers of Nigerians for the All Progressives Congress (APC) administration, at all levels, as the main reason for the success of the administration.
Senator Osinowo stated this in his Democracy Day message to Nigerians, especially the people of his senatorial district.
“It is Democracy Day and we have to acknowledged your support and prayers at all times. There have been challenges but your support and prayers have been pillars on which we were able to face and surmount such challenges,” he said.
He advised Nigerians not to relent in supporting the govenrment at all levels, saying that government can succeed and serve the people well with collective cooperation from the people.
“I want to assure you that government will not relent in putting in place policies and programmes that will enhance your welfare and well-being,” he said.
Senator Osinowo described June 12 as the authentic Democracy Day because on the same date 27 years ago Nigerians spoke with one voice in what has been described as the freest, fairest and most peaceful election not only in Nigeria but also the entire continent of Africa.
He said the struggles and sacrifices for its actualisation gave birth to the present democractic dispensation in the country.
“June 12 is the catalyst for the present democratic dispensation in the country because it is a product of our struggles to actualise it,” he said.
Senator Osinowo also advised Nigerians to keep on being safe and adhering to strict health measures put in place to fight the coronavirus pandemic in the country.
“On behalf of the people of the Lagos East Senatorial District, I greet you all on this Democracy Day celebration, and while having a fruitful and wonderful celebration, continue to keep safe, stay safe, wash your hands regularly, wear your mask and adhere strictly to the heath measures put in place by the heath officials. Together we will drive Covid-19 away from our country,” Senator Osinowo said.
