A 24-year-old woman was reportedly shot in the clitoris after a stray bullet entered her home while she was sitting in her living room.
Medical operatives at Erdoğan Hospital in Mogadishu, the capital of Somalia, have extracted a two centimetre bullet from the vagina of a 24-year-old after she was rushed to hospital in severe pain.
The bullet, which reportedly came through the ceiling pierced her clitoris, while she sat in her living room and the operation took place through the help of Computerised Tomography (CT) scans, which revealed the bullet had become lodged inside her clitoris after being fired into her vulva.
Having decided that she needed surgery to have it safely removed, the obstetrics and gynaecology team, who heard of the strange story from the woman, who told them that she sat in her lounge when the stray bullet fell through the ceiling, got to work and with pelvic examination showing where the bullet had penetrated the clitoris and lodged, successfully removed it.
The operation was said to have been carried out using local anaesthetic, adding that following its surgical removal, with no complications observed, the woman was discharged home the following day “in good condition,” the reports, which stated that subsequent visits showed no further complications, say, quoting medics.
