The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has released former Governor of Sokoto State Aminu Tambuwal, from its custody after spending a night, reports thegazellenews.com.
Thegazellenews.com recalled that on Monday, 11 August, 2025, Tambuwal, a serving Senator, was detained by the commission over alleged fraudulent cash withdrawals to the tune of N189 billion.
The withdrawals, according to the anti-sleaze agency, are in violation of the Money Laundering (Prevention & Prohibition) Act, 2022.
While the anti-graft agency has not issued any statement about Tambuwal’s release, the Senator on Tuesday, 12 August, 2025 was at his residence in Abuja, receiving visits from prominent politicians.
