A former member of the Lagos State House of Assembly and one-time lawmaker in the House of Representatives, Mufutau Adewale Egberongbe is seeking a return to the National Assembly, anchoring his campaign on a record of issue-driven legislative interventions in Apapa Federal Constituency.

The renewed bid comes against the backdrop of persistent challenges in Apapa, including gridlock, infrastructure decay, and economic pressure.
On Monday 13 April, 2026, his media team spotlighted his past motions in the House, arguing that they directly addressed these concerns through practical and long-term policy proposals.

Specifically, Egberongbe’s intervention on Apapa gridlock focused on structural reforms rather than stopgap measures. He advocated the revival of rail transport, expansion of waterways, and development of sustainable cargo movement alternatives aimed at easing congestion and restoring economic activity.
According to his supporters, the proposals went beyond rhetoric, describing them as “bold” and “forward-looking” solutions tailored to the realities of Apapa. They noted that the measures were designed to reduce pressure on residents while repositioning the area as a functional economic hub.
Furthermore, Egberongbe advanced motions targeting improved local security through the inclusion of traditional institutions in community frameworks.
In addition, he pushed for education reforms centred on skills development and entrepreneurship, with the aim of producing “job creators rather than job seekers.”
Moreover, his legislative approach has been framed as one grounded in foresight and long-term impact. Supporters maintained that his motions were focused on “real problems” and driven by sustainable solutions, rather than short-term political optics.
In contrast, they criticised leadership styles that, in their view, shift attention away from Apapa’s pressing needs, insisting that effective representation must prioritise tangible outcomes. “Representation must be anchored in truth, responsibility, and tangible impact not diversion,” the statement said.
Egberongbe, who served two terms in the Lagos State House of Assembly before a stint in the House of Representatives, is now seeking to return to the Lower Legislative Chamber, positioning experience and continuity as central to his campaign message.
His supporters argued that Apapa requires decisive leadership with a clear understanding of its challenges. “When it mattered most, Egberongbe did not deflect, he delivered direction,” they said, presenting his candidacy as a continuation of purposeful representation.
