The Senator representing Lagos East Senatorial District in the Nigeria’s Upper Legislative Chamber, Senator Sikiru Adebayo Osinowo, has called on Nigerians, particularly Muslims not to relent in prayers and personal sacrifice for the unity, development and growth of the country.
This was contained in the Senator’s Sallah message to Muslims on the occasion of the celebration of the Eid-l-Fitri festival commemorating the end of the Ramadan fasting.
The message was released via the Media Office of the Senator and released to journalists on Saturday, 23 May, 2020.
Senator Osinowo said the lessons imbibed from the Ramadan period should not be allowed to end with the fasting month.
“During the Ramadan period, we prayed fervently, we paid personal sacrifice, we engaged in a lot of personal and collective supplication to Almighty Allah. All these should not stop. The nation needs all these to continue hence we should not say because Ramadan is over, we will stop all these,” the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Industries said.
He advised further that Nigerians in general and Muslims in particular should not relent in sharing love, avoiding actions and utterances that can breach public peace as well as promoting unity of the country.
Senator Osinowo stated that the present health situation in the country demands that Nigerians continue to promote healthy and hygienic living. “We should stay safe all the time, observe social distancing, wash and sanitise our hands as well as adhere strictly to measures and precautions put in place by health officials to curtail and contain the spread of Covid-19 in the country,” he said.
Senator Osinowo stated further, “on behalf of the entire good people of Lagos East Senatorial District, I greet you all and wish you a fulfilling and rewarding Eid-l-Fitri celebration”.
