The Kebbi State Elders’ Forum and officials of Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company (KEDCO) on Wednesday, 5 November, 2025, held meeting to chart ways of improving power supply in some parts of the state.

The roundtable discussion, according to the Deputy Chairman of the Kebbi Elders’ Forum, Justice Muhammad Suleiman Ambursa, who addressed the press after the marathon meeting said that the meeting was fruitful as both parties reaching a common ground by agreeing to make some concessions.
Ambursa appealed to affected communities and towns to ensure prompt and accurate payment of their bills to appropriate quarters not proxies.
He stated that these proxies usually pocket the monies and shortchange the electricity company.
On vandalisation of electricity materials, he blamed the company for inhuman treatment of retired staff who had worked with them for many years without pensions or gratuities, saying such attitudes fuels vandalism and theft.

He called on residents to provide security for their transformers while also urging the government to come to the aid of consumers by providing additional 15kVA transformers to facilitate even distribution of power supply in Kebbi state.
Earlier, the Regional Manager of the electricity company, Muhammad Sani Makinu described the engagement with Elders’ Forum as fruitful assuring the people of Kebbi of improved power supply.
“We met and we discussed. They heard our story and we have listened to their complaints. This is just beginning and we will continue to engage each other in a calm and peaceful atmosphere,” he said.
He pledged to improve power supply in most parts of Kebbi State while the company also expect huge bill settlements from consumers.
The Stakeholders’ meeting was attended by former Special Adviser on Power, Alhaji Yusuf Haruna Rasheed, former Commissioners, Permanent Secretaries and traditional rulers.
