Former Chairman of old Alimoso Local Government, Sir Ayo Akinyemi is dead, reports thegazellenews.com

This platform learnt that elderly politician died at the age of 85 at a yet to be known hospital in Lagos.

He was reported to have complained of body discomfort, and he was promptly taken to the hospital for medical attention. He later died on the evening of Wednesday, 10 December, 2025.

Sir Akinyemi was among the first set of elected council Chairmen when the present democracy was birthed in 1999.

He was elected Chairman of the old Alimoso Local Government on the platform of the Alliance for Democracy (AD).

During the expiration of the tenure of the elected Chairmen in 2002, Sir Akinyemi was appointed the Executive Secretary of old Ojo Local Government.

However, a disagreement with the leadership of the party led to his removal and he later defected to the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

He would later rejoin the All Progressives Congress (APC) where he became one of the leaders of the party in Alimoso Local Government.
