A former governorship candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC) in the 2023 election in Benue State, Ewaoche Benjamin Obe, who was thrown out of his Abuja house after his wife, Christiana Owofuni Obe allegedly used the property as collateral for a loan without the consent of the husband, has filed an interpleader in court.

The case involving Benjamin Ewaoche Obe, his wife, Christiana Owofuni Obe and Jesryte Global Resources Ltd, resumed January 21, 2025, before Justice Ahmed Yusuf Ubangari of the Dutse Magistrate Court.

The dispute centered around the sale of their family house where they both live as a couple with their son.

The property was allegedly sold by the wife to a company, Jesryte Global Resources Ltd, owned by her twin brother, Thomas Onoja Onuh and his wife, Funmilayo Onuh, as revealed by CAC.

Obe was in September 2024, thrown out of his Abuja home after it emerged his wife allegedly used the property as collateral for a loan which she claimed she was unable to pay back.

The property’s ownership has been a subject of contention, with Chief Obe claiming that he is the rightful owner and alleging fraudulent actions by his wife and her twin brother.

In a video that went viral last year, Obe lamented that he was not aware that his wife obtained any loan using the property’s documents as collateral.

It was gathered that the house located at the Sagwari Layout of Dutse, Bwari Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, was built by the politician.

After adopting all processes, Justice Ahmed Yusuf Ubangari adjourned the case to March 3, 2025, for the final ruling.
