The member representing Ikeja Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. James Abiodun Faleke, has debunked reports claiming that he entered into a political agreement with former Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, and the incumbent governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo, to limit Ododo to one term in office.

Faleke made the clarification on Tuesday, 20 January, 2026 via a post on his official X account @honfaleke, following widespread speculation and online reports suggesting that such an agreement existed among the trio during the last governorship transition in Kogi State.
Responding to the claims, the lawmaker said he had read several posts alleging an agreement between the Kogi State Governor and himself.

However, he stated unequivocally that he was not aware of any such arrangement and was never part of it. According to him, the reports were false and should be disregarded.
He explained that at no time did he enter into, witness, or consent to any agreement relating to the tenure of Governor Ododo.
As a result, Faleke described the narrative as fake news, warning that it was capable of misleading the public and creating unnecessary political tension.
The reports had gained attention in political circles, with claims that Faleke, former Governor Yahaya Bello, and Governor Ododo had allegedly reached a power-sharing deal in which Ododo would serve only one term.
The speculation, which spread largely on social media, fueled debates about succession planning and internal political arrangements in Kogi State.
However, by publicly denying the allegations, Faleke sought to clarify his position and distance himself from the controversy. In doing so, he emphasized the need for accuracy in public discourse and cautioned against the spread of unverified information.
As of the time of filing this report, neither the Kogi State Government nor former Governor Yahaya Bello has issued an official statement in response to the claims or Faleke’s denial.
