It was the empowerment programme of the member representing Ikeja Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Honourable James Abiodun Faleke.

Faleke has been very consistent and well known all over Lagos for his mega empowerment programmes but this was colossal hence it was dubbed ‘Xtra-large Empowerment’.
It was the first time in the history of the state that empowerment items almost matched the number of people on ground.

Among the items distributed by the Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Finance are: two brand new coster buses; 50 brand new 18-seater Hummer buses; 50 brand new mini-buses (korope); 20 brand new Toyota Camry/Corolla cars; 50 Volkswagen Sharan; 50 Cargo Tricycles; 50 Tricycles; 15 Dispatch motorcycles; 300 fishing bowl with feeds and fingerlings; 100 popcorn machine with one bags of corn; 400 deep freezers; 200 generators; 260 grinding machines; 50 electric cake mixers; 50 electric juice mixers; 100 electric drilling machines; 100 mechanical tools; 100 hairdryers; and 300 industrial sewing machines.
Speaking at the event, the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu was profuse in his praises for the pioneer Chairman of Conference 57, umbrella organisation for Lagos Council Chairmen when he was Chairman of Ojodu Local Council Development Area.

The Governor commended Faleke for being a good ambassador not only for Ikeja and Lagos but the entire federation of Nigeria.
“Honourable Faleke cuts across all stakeholders across the country hence he is in high demand all over the country.
“However we are happy that he is for us here in Lagos and we are very proud of him. He is indeed worthy of emulation by politicians all over the country,” the Governor said.

Sanwo-Olu urged the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the items noting that making judicious use of the items will encourage the lawmaker to do more.
“We are all happy at what Faleke is doing and we will always support him all the time,” the Governor said.
Speaking earlier, Honourable Faleke urged the beneficiaries and Lagosians in general not to relent in their support for the All Progressives Congress (APC) at all levels.

“We are doing this for you as part of fulfilment of our campaign promises. We are delivering the dividends of democracy to you and we urge you to reward APC with your votes in all elections,” he said.
He commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for putting Nigeria on the right step socio-economically, noting that the reforms embarked upon by the Tinubu have started to yield positive results for Nigerians.
He urged Lagosians in particular and Nigerians in general to vote massively for Tinubu and all APC candidates in the 2027 general election so that they can continue to enjoy full dividends of democracy delivered to them at their doorsteps.
