The world football governing body, Federation of International Football Association (FIFA) has increased the prize money for the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup to $110 million.
The winner of the previous tournament hosted by France in 2019 received $30 million.
The world’s soccer governing body President, Gianni Infantino made the announcement at the FIFA Congress in Kigali, Rwanda on Thursday, 16 March, 2023.
Infantino also disclosed that there will be an additional $40 million for team preparation money and for clubs who release players.
Thirty two countries will participate in the competition for the first time since it started in China in 1991.
The Super Falcons, who have attended all editions of the competition are in Group B with co-hosts Australia, Canada and the Republic of Ireland.
The 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup will run from Thursday, July 20 to Sunday, August 20, 2023.
