The First Lady of Nigeria Senator Oluremi Tinubu has restated that the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is one that is focused on education and youth development.

She said this is to ensure a more formidable future not only for the youth but the nation as well.

Senator Oluremi Tinubu also assured that the administration will surely deliver on its promises to Nigerians.

Senator Tinubu was speaking during the commissioning of a 2.7km road and ultra-modern male and female hostels at the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife on Thursday, 10 October, 2024.

“It is worthy of note that the administration of His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR is one that is focused on education and youth development, to ensure that all our youth have unhindered access to education irrespective of their financial status. To this end, the National Students Loan Scheme was introduced, and I urge all our youth across the country to avail themselves of the opportunity presented by this Students Loan scheme.

“The significance of continuous infrastructure renewal cannot be overemphasized in creating a conducive academic environment.

“Roads have always been a symbol of progress which opens up pathways to safety and economic growth,” she said.

The First Lady noted that all hands must be on deck and join with the Federal Government in its pursuit of a greater nation in support of the education sector and infrastructure renewal as being exemplified by the Ooni of Ife, Oba Enitan Adeyeye Ogunwusi with the building of the hostels and the road.

“At this juncture, I commend and thank His Imperial Majesty for celebrating his Golden Jubilee in such a noble manner. Fifty years is not just a marker of time, but a testament to wisdom and leadership. The deep-rooted love that you have shown for your people and kingdom since your ascension on the throne is heartwarming and commendable.  Part of the activities leading up to the big day is the commissioning of a 2.7 kilometer road named after me within the premises of the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, my Alma Mater. I am humbled and thank you Kabiyesi.

“Roads have always been a symbol of progress which opens up pathways to safety and economic growth. It is my hope that this road will become a valuable asset for the University and facilitate easy access for the students and the entire University community,” she said.

Senator Oluremi Tinubu who decried the state of infrastructure at the institution pledged to support in restoring the glory and pledged N1 billion from the Renewed Hope Initiative while calling on wives of state governors to also lend helping hands.

Governor Ademola Adeleke who was represented by his deputy, Prince Kola Adewusi commended the various initiatives of the President and the First Lady.

In his remarks, the Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof Professor Adebayo Simeon Bamire noted that the revived Student Loan Scheme by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is one of the right steps to fixing the education sector.

The First Lady inaugurated three key infrastructure projects: a 2.7 kilometer road named after her and Ojaja male and female students hostels and pavilion, all executed by the traditional ruler, Ooni of Ife Oba Enitan Ogunwusi in commemoration of his 50th birthday.

The monarch described the First Lady as a compassionate, devoted and caring woman who has the love of God at heart.

The First Lady, an alumnus of Obafemi Awolowo University Ile Ife, was presented with various paintings by a group of orphans, former street young boys and men who are being reintegrated into society by the Ooni of Ife.
