The First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has urged Nigerian youths to remain focused and hardworking, charging them to leverage education, innovation, entrepreneurship and active citizenship to pursue their dreams and contribute to national development.
The call was contained in a message issued by the First Lady on Wednesday, 12 August, 2026, to mark International Youth Day, themed Different Contexts, Common Aspirations.
Tinubu said she joined the global community in highlighting the significance of the theme, noting that although young people come from diverse backgrounds and face different circumstances, they share common aspirations for quality education, meaningful employment, equal opportunities and a more sustainable future.
She encouraged young Nigerians to use education, innovation, entrepreneurship and active citizenship as tools to fulfil their potential and help build a more peaceful and prosperous Nigeria.
The First Lady called for a renewed commitment to supporting and empowering young people by creating opportunities for them to realise their full potential and contribute meaningfully to society, as the world commemorated the day.
She rounded off the message by extending felicitations to Nigerian youths on the occasion of International Youth Day 2026.
