Former Super Eagles coach, Chief Adegboye Onigbinde is dead, reports thegazellenews.com
Thegazellenews.com reports further that Chief Onigbinde died on Monday, 9 March, 2026 at the age of 88.

News of his death was made public by a statement from the family signed by one of his children, Mrs Bolade Adesuyi.
Chief Onigbinde led the Super Eagles to the African Cup of Nations in Cote D’ivoire in 1984 where the team won silver after losing to Cameroun in the final.

Onigbinde also led the Super Eagles to the World Cup in 2002.

WE ANNOUNCE THE PASSING OF THIS GREAT MAN, A MODAKEKE HIGH CHIEF, THE 1ST INDIGENOUS NIGERIAN SUPER EAGLES FOOTBALL COACH, FATHER, HUSBAND, GRAND FATHER, GREAT GRAND FATHER, BROTHER, AND FRIEND, HIGH CHIEF FESTUS ADEGBOYE ONIGBINDE, WHO PASSED UNTO THE GREAT BEYOND A COUPLE OF MINUTES AGO.
