The Islamic Movement of Nigeria also known as Shiites has rejected the labelling of Fulani as bandits and terrorists by some section of the country.
Fulani wing of the movement named “Meenfuddiri indi Allah’ made the disclosure in Birnin Kebbi on Saturday, 15 November, 2025 during their annual maulid lectures and sensitisation, the Fulani wing led by Malam Usman Abubakar Bello known as wadata said that the essence of bringing the Fulani members of the shiiates together in Kebbi state was to sensitise Fulanis to live a more religious life deviod of any violence.
Wadata, explained that Fulanis across sub-Saharan Africa were never known as violent people or terrorist they don’t know guns but sticks” branding fulanis as bandits or terrorist is the highest injustice done to the peaceful tribal group “.
The Fulani leader maintained that fulanis are pastoralists and religious scholars who traverse nooks and crannies to get and impart Islamic knowledge part of which we are doing today to sensitise them on the need for them to maintain their shy life, friendliness and brotherhood he said.
He called on the Federal Government to caution those branding Fulanis as bandits or terrorist instead halt cattle confiscation by unknown armed groups whose activities forced fulanis into some sort of unsavoury behavior fulanis are not known for.
He stressed that Fulani under the leadership of Sheik Zakzaky are not bandits but religious and scholars who preach peace and oneness of Allah.
This year’s maulid was hosted by Abubakar Ahmed Rufai at his badariya residence in Birnin Kebbi and was attended by top Islamic movement top Fulani scholars who delivered various lectures.
