Gombe State has again taken a bold and strategic step toward positioning itself at the forefront of Nigeria’s digital economy, as the Gombe State Information Technology and Digital Economy Commission (GOSIDEC), in partnership with the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB), officially launched an intensive training programme in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Data Analytics for 100 carefully selected youths.

The programme, which commenced on Wednesday, 29 April, 2026 is in line with the sustained commitment by the administration of Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya to drive economic diversification through human capital development, innovation and digital transformation.

Speaking at the flag-off ceremony, the Director General of GOSIDEC, Dr. Al-Amin Barambu, described the programme as a foundational investment to equip young people with high-demand, 21st-century skills that are increasingly shaping the global workforce.

He emphasized that Gombe state is deliberately shifting from being a passive consumer of technology to an active creator of data-driven solutions.

“Through the support of His Excellency, Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, we are moving beyond the consumption of technology to the actual creation and analysis of data-driven solutions,” Dr. Barambu said.

He urged participants to approach the opportunity with long-term vision and discipline, stressing that the tools provided are meant to catalyze sustainable impact.

“The laptops provided are not just gifts; they are workstations. We expect you to leverage these tools to build startups, solve local problems, and sustain yourselves through digital entrepreneurship long after this programme concludes,” he added.

At the start of the capacity building event, the NCDMB supported the participants with high-performance laptops, training materials and stipends to enable them fully immerse themselves while preparing for careers in the global digital economy.

This collaboration between the Gombe State Information Technology and Digital Economy Commission and the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board is a clear demonstration of Gombe state’s readiness to cultivate new generation of innovators, data scientists and technology entrepreneurs poised to redefine the state’s economic future in sync with Governor Inuwa Yahaya’s development agenda.
