Tragedy occurred on Tuesday, 23 June, 2026 as a young woman named Eno was knocked down by a speeding vehicle in a convoy near the Rivers State University campus in Port Harcourt.
It was gathered that the victim sustained fatal injuries after hitting her head on the ground following the impact of the accident.

Sources said some occupants of the convoy vehicles reportedly fled the scene after realising that the woman had died.
An eyewitness near the university said, “The security personnel attached to the university and the police were immediately alerted, and they quickly cordoned off all exit points from the campus.
“Then operatives of the Nkpolu Police Division, in collaboration with the university security team, later apprehended two suspects identified as Onunaka and Daniel, drivers of a Toyota Camry Spider and a Mercedes-Benz E300, respectively.”
The source, who pleaded anonymity for fear of victimisation, said the two suspects might be students of Rivers State University.
As of the time of filing this report, it was gathered that the suspects were being detained at the Nkpolu Police Division in the Mile 3 area of Diobu, Port Harcourt, while the deceased’s body had been recovered and deposited in a mortuary.
Efforts to reach the spokesperson for Rivers State University, Victor Banigo, for comments were unsuccessful, as he did not answer several calls made to his mobile phone.
Banigo had also yet to respond to text and WhatsApp messages sent by our correspondent as of Wednesday afternoon.
The spokesperson for the Rivers State Police Command, Blessing Agabe, confirmed the incident and the arrest of the suspects, adding that an investigation was ongoing.
She said, “Two suspects have been arrested in connection with the incident, while the woman’s corpse has been retrieved and deposited in the mortuary.
“So, yes, I can confirm the incident, and investigation is ongoing.”
