The Ogun State Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni, on behalf of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, Monday, October 5, 2026, made a presentation of a total of Thirty-seven Million, Nine Hundred and Thirteen Thousand, Eighty-one Naira, Seventy-seven Kobo (₦37,913,081.77) to families and next-of-kin of deceased Police officers who served under the Command.
The presentation, at the Command Headquarters, Eleweran in Abeokuta, under the Nigeria Police Force Group Life Assurance Scheme, is designed to provide financial support to families of officers who lost their lives in the course of serving the nation, the Command’s spokesperson (PPRO), DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, said in a statement.

Representing the CP, DCP Oliver Ezirim, Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the State Criminal Investigation Department, alongside members of the Command Management Team, presented the cheques to the beneficiaries.

The event commenced with a one-minute silence in honour of the departed officers, after which DCP Ezirim reaffirmed the IGP’s commitment to Police welfare, noting that, while no financial assistance can replace the lost lives, the intervention reflects the Force’s appreciation of their sacrifices and its responsibility towards the families left behind.
Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Mrs John Shito expressed appreciation to the Inspector-General of Police and the Ogun State Command for the welfare support, assuring that the funds would be judiciously utilised for the welfare and sustenance of their families.
The Ogun State Police Command honoured the memory of the fallen officers and reiterated that their families remain part of the Police family.
