
The Chairman of Imota Local Council Development Area, Hon. Benson Sunday Ayodele, recently received the Tutor-General/Permanent Secretary of Education District II, Mr. Omotayo Layemo Sanni, and his entourage at the council secretariat in Imota reports thegazellenews.com
The visit formed part of an official tour of schools and education facilities within the district to assess ongoing activities and strengthen collaboration with local authorities.
Welcoming the delegation, Hon. Benson described the visit as a significant step towards enhancing the quality of education in Imota LCDA and the entire Education District II. He noted that education remains a critical pillar of his “HI-SEE” administration’s transformation agenda, adding that the council would continue to support initiatives that improve teaching and learning outcomes.
The Council Chairman emphasized that the administration has consistently invested in educational infrastructure, provision of learning materials, and support programmes aimed at easing the burden on parents and students. He explained that such interventions are designed to create a conducive environment where students can thrive academically and socially.
Speaking during the visit, the Tutor-General/Permanent Secretary, Mr. Sanni, commended the leadership of Imota LCDA for its commitment to educational development. He acknowledged the various initiatives undertaken by the council, noting that local government support plays a vital role in the effective functioning of public schools.
He also encouraged the council leadership to remain focused and committed to excellence. According to him, “Sustained collaboration between the state education authorities and local councils is essential for achieving improved academic performance across schools.”
The TG/PS further reiterated the district’s dedication to monitoring standards, providing guidance to educators, and ensuring that policies of the Lagos State Government are effectively implemented at the grassroots level. He assured the council of continued partnership in areas that would benefit students and teachers alike.
During the interactive session, issues relating to school infrastructure, teacher welfare, student discipline, and academic performance were discussed. Both parties expressed readiness to work closely together to address challenges and build a stronger education system within the district.
The visit concluded with a renewed commitment from both the council leadership and the Education District II officials to sustain cooperation in advancing the educational sector for the benefit of students across Imota LCDA.
