The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has confirmed that thugs snatched Bimodal Voter Accreditation System, BVAS, machines in Delta and Katsina States.

The INEC Chairman, Mahmood Yakubu, confirmed the development on Saturday, 25 February, 2023, while briefing newsmen at the collation centre, Abuja on the ongoing general elections.

Yakubu said reports from the process nationwide indicated that there have been some challenges, noting that challenges include problems of logistics and insecurity.

In another related development, voting was disrupted Saturday afternoon, 25 February, 2023, at a polling unit on Ibadan Street near Herbert Macaulay in Lagos.

A resident in the area told thegazellenews.com in a telephone conversation that the incident occurred around 12:30pm.

According to the resident, who preferred anonymity, said accreditation had been done and voting was ongoing when a gang of political thugs stormed the location.

He said the thugs came in a yellow bus and scattered everything – the ballot papers and boxes, adding that police teams, party members and officials later visited the scene.

“The place is now calm though voting has been suspended. INEC staff and others have left, soldiers are now patrolling the area. Voting is going on at nearby units,” he said.

Ibadan Street in the Ebute Metta area of Lagos has a large concentration of Southeasterners who deal in generators and motorcycle spare parts.
