The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC)on Tuesday, 23 June, 2026  presented Certificates of Return to winners of the bye-elections held on June 20, 2026, across Rivers, Enugu, Nasarawa, Ondo and Kano states.

The certificates were presented on behalf of the INEC Chairman, Prof. Joash Amupitan, SAN, by the Supervising National Commissioner for Rivers State, Mrs May Agbamuche-Mbu.

The electoral umpire made thisdisclosure through in a statement posted on  its official  X handle on Tuesday, 23 June, 2026.

In her remarks, Agbamuche-Mbu congratulated the winners and urged them to serve their constituents diligently, noting that their primary responsibility is to represent the people effectively.

“The most important responsibility is to represent the people well,” she said, just as she also noted “that Certificates of Return would also be presented to winners in Kebbi State for the Zuru State Constituency election and in Ekiti State for the governorship election.”

The ruling All Progressives Congress(APC) recorded a dominant performance in Saturday’s by-elections, securing victories in Ondo, Nasarawa, Kano and Kebbi states, while the Peoples Democratic Party retained the Rivers South-East Senatorial District seat.

The results, announced by INEC on Sunday, 21 June, 20256, strengthened the APC’s legislative presence across the country, although some of the contests were overshadowed by allegations of electoral irregularities, violence and voter intimidation.

APC’s candidate, Ikeje Asogwa, emerged winner of the Enugu North Senatorial District by-election.

INEC declared Rabiu Garba Aiki of the APC winner of the Zuru State Constituency by-election into the Kebbi State House of Assembly.

The electoral commission also declared Rabiu Shuaibu of the APC winner of the Dawakin Kudu/Warawa Federal Constituency by-election in Kano State.

PDP’s candidate, Olaka Nwogu, was declared winner of the Rivers South-East Senatorial District by-election.

Dayo Faduyile of the APC won the Ondo South Senatorial District by-election.

APC candidate for the Nasarawa North Senatorial by-election, Danladi Envulu-anza, was declared winner of the poll after securing 45,362 votes.

In the Ekiti State governorship election, Governor Biodun Oyebanji was re-elected, becoming the first governor to be re-elected back-to-back in the state since 1999.
