Terrorists of the Islamic State West Africa Province, ISWAP, have killed at least five soldiers of the Nigerian Army in an ambush in Borno State.
According to Zagazola Makama, a counterinsurgency publication focused on the Lake Chad region, the attack occurred on 4 January, 2025 in Sabon Gari, Damboa LGA of Borno.

The report stated that the ambush sparked a two-hour firefight, resulting in the death of five soldiers and the destruction of some military equipment.
Makama also said that the air component of the operation Hadin Kai targeted ISWAP’s stronghold with airstrikes within the Timbuktu Triangle in state.
