In a heartfelt display of solidarity, Hon. Seyi Jakande, Executive Chairman of the Odi-Olowo/Ojuwoye LCDA; along with Hon. Tunbosun Aruwe, Chairman of Mushin LG; paid a condolence visit to the family of the late Hon. Zainab Adeshewa Shotayo, who served as the Councillor for Ward C3, on Tuesday, 19 August, 2025.
Before this visit, Aruwe led a delegation that included his Vice Chairman, Hon. Karaole Semiu; the Leader of the Legislative arm, Hon. Dele Abioye; Chief of Staff, Hon. Olajide Lookman; and other council members from Mushin LG to visit Jakande and express their condolences regarding Shotayo’s passing.

Jakande, Aruwe, and their teams, accompanied by Odi-Olowo/Ojuwoye LCDA Council Manager, Mrs. Afolake Otenaike and Council Treasurer, Mr. Mujitaba K. Rufai, subsequently visited the Shotayo family’s home on Damengoro and Lawson streets to offer their deepest sympathies to the grieving parents.

During the visit, Jakande assured the family that they would receive support and remuneration for the entire four years of the late Councillor’s tenure, emphasizing the LCDA’s commitment to honoring her contributions. “We stand by your family during this difficult time and pledge our support as you navigate this loss,” he stated, reaffirming the community’s dedication to their fallen champion.
Hon. Jakande also announced plans for a government-funded funeral for the late Councillor, as well as medical assistance for her family, demonstrating the LCDA’s commitment to supporting those whom Hon. Shotayo left behind. “Hon. Zainab’s legacy of service and leadership will always be remembered,” he added.
Earlier that morning, Jakande directed that flags be flown at half-mast in honour of Hon. Shotayo, paying tribute to her vibrant spirit and dedicated service.
