Òdì-Olowo/Ojuwoye LCDA Chairman, Hon. Seyi Jakande (JAKO), on Monday, 2 February, 2026, commissioned the newly reconstructed Damegoro Street, off Olateju Street in Mushin, reports thegazellenews.com
The road, fully asphalted to modern standards with marked lanes and a smooth surface, was praised by residents for improving accessibility and durability.
Highlighting the historic moment, 75-year-old Mrs. Jimoh recalled that the street was first tiled under Late Alhaji Lateef Jakande’s governorship, noting the coincidence of his son now modernising the same road.
Hon. Jakande thanked residents for their turnout, urging them to protect the road and warning against its misuse as a roadside workshop. He also used the occasion to call on community members to actively participate in the ongoing APC e-registration membership drive.
The event also witnessed a political shift as a member of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) formally defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC). The defector cited admiration for Jakande’s inclusive governance and highlighted initiatives such as free education for her two children, provision of free books and stationery, and the weekly “JAKO Jollof” program as reasons for her decision.
