The Chairman of Odi-Olowo/Ojuwoye Local Council Development Area, Dr. Seyi Jakande, has intensified efforts to promote a cleaner and healthier environment by leading a comprehensive community sensitisation campaign on the reintroduction of the monthly environmental sanitation exercise.
In the early hours of Friday, April 24, the Chairman, represented by the Vice Chairman and Chairman of the Environmental Committee, Elder Gbeminiyi Awodogan, embarked on an extensive community walk-through across major streets and neighbourhoods within the council area. The initiative was aimed at directly engaging residents, traders, and business owners on the importance of environmental hygiene and collective responsibility.

During the exercise, the team moved through key locations including Ilupeju Industrial Avenue, Ilupeju axis, Oyewole, Majolate, Kayode, Coke, Jacob, Adeshina, Fadeyi, Ayonuga, Idi-Oro, Ibrahimoh, Imoru, Olateju, Coker, Olowo Olomowewe, Kumuyi, Fafolu, Agege Motor Road, and Ilupeju Bypass, among others. At each stop, residents were educated on proper waste disposal practices, the need to clear drainage channels, and the importance of maintaining a clean environment to prevent disease outbreaks.
The walk witnessed active participation from community leaders, environmental officers, and party faithful, all reinforcing the message of cleanliness and civic duty. The initiative also served as an avenue to address concerns from residents and provide clarity on the structure and expectations of the sanitation exercise.

Residents across the various communities expressed appreciation for the Chairman’s grassroots approach, describing the initiative as timely, impactful, and necessary for sustainable development.
The Odi-Olowo/Ojuwoye LCDA administration reaffirmed its commitment to environmental sustainability and urged all residents to take ownership of their surroundings as the sanitation exercise officially begins on Saturday, 25 April, 2026
