The Chairman of Alimosho Local Government, Hon. Akinpelu Ibrahim Johnson, has described 2026 as a year of renewed opportunities for the council’s workforce, urging staff to raise their level of commitment to service delivery.
Johnson said his administration remains committed to greater efficiency, accountability, discipline and people-centred governance, stressing that workers must strengthen teamwork, uphold ethical standards and embrace innovation in the discharge of their duties.
The Chairman spoke on Monday, 5 January, 2026, during a New Year Prayer Session marking the first working day of the year, held at the Alimosho Local Government Multi-Purpose Hall.
Reflecting on the previous year, Hon. Akinpelu noted that 2025 came with both challenges and triumphs, but commended workers for their resilience, professionalism and dedication, which, he said, ensured steady progress in the local government.
He appreciated staff for their sacrifices, loyalty and commitment to duty, describing them as the engine room of governance, without whom effective service delivery would be impossible.
The Alimoso LG Chairman urged workers to approach the new year with a renewed sense of purpose, warning against complacency. He charged them to rededicate themselves to discipline, excellence, punctuality, professionalism and integrity, which he described as the council’s core values for 2026.
Also speaking, the Head of Administration (HOA), Dr. Idowu Banjoko, unveiled the five guiding principles for staff in the new year, emphasising the need to harness both human and material resources to make Alimosho greater.
Dr. Banjoko warned against cutting corners in revenue generation, stressing that strict consequences would follow any breach of public service rules, especially as the council moves towards increased use of technology and automated systems.
He listed the guiding principles as discipline, accountability, innovation, teamwork and integrity, urging staff to remain honest and collaborative while embracing ideas that would move the council forward.
Earlier, the Human Resource Officer (HRO), Mrs. Aborishade Omobolaji, encouraged staff to be proactive and align their personal goals with the overall vision of the local government.
She emphasized continuous self-development, noting that effectiveness and efficiency are key measures of productivity, and expressed optimism that innovation among staff would drive Alimosho to greater heights in 2026.
The event concluded with inter-faith prayers, as both Islamic and Christian prayers were offered for the Chairman, Vice Chairman, and the council’s management and staff, thanking God for the year 2025 and seeking divine guidance, prosperity and good health in the new year.
