The Kebbi State Government, through the Ministry of Special Duties, has concluded arrangements to commemorate the 2025 International Day of Persons with Disabilities scheduled for Wednesday, 3rd December, 2025.

The state Commissioner for Special Duties, Hon. Zayyanu Umar Aliero, disclosed this during a press briefing held in Birnin Kebbi on Tuesday, 2 December, 2025.

According to him, the state government, in collaboration with the wife of the President, has made adequate preparations to ensure that persons with disabilities across Kebbi State benefit meaningfully from the programme.

 He explained that the event, themed “Fostering Disability inclusive Societies for Advancing Social Progrss” aligns with the global celebration and aims to promote inclusion,empowerment and support for vulnerable groups.

The Commissioner further stated that the wife of the President, through her Renewed Hope Initiative, has contributed empowerment packages targeting 250 persons with disabilities. In addition, the Kebbi State Government has approved a special capital grant of ₦100,000 each for 650 persons with disabilities, as part of its commitment to improving livelihoods and economic independence.

 He added that the State Government has also provided 100 units of solar-powered tricycles to further enhance mobility and economic empowerment for beneficiaries.

Hon. Zayyanu noted that these interventions bring the total number of beneficiaries to 1,000, comprising the 250 beneficiaries from the Renewed Hope Initiative, 650 recipients of the special capital grant, and 100 beneficiaries of the solar – powered tricycles.

He further announced that the First Lady of Kebbi State, Hajiya Zainab Nasare Nasir Idris, has supported the programme with 1,000 bags of rice, ensuring that each beneficiary will receive one bag as part of the support package.

He added that “all necessary arrangements have been completed for the event, which will take place at the Waziri Umaru Federal Polytechnic Convocation Centre, Birnin Kebbi, by 11:00 am on Wednesday, 3rd December, 2025.”
