The Joint National Public Service Negotiating Council (JNPSNC), which is part of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC), is asking for a new minimum wage of N154,000 due to the increasing cost of living and economic hardship, reports thegazellenews.com.
JNPSNC in a letter signed by its leaders, Benjamin Anthony and Olowoyo Gbenga and made available to newsmen called for an urgent increase in salaries and allowances for public workers.

According to the group, the current wage is no longer enough because prices of food, transportation, and other basic needs have gone up significantly. As a result, many workers are struggling to survive.
It added that the proposed N154,000 minimum wage is meant to help workers maintain a decent standard of living, just as the also urged the Federal Government to begin negotiations immediately.

This demand comes at a time when many Nigerians are facing serious financial difficulties due to the rising cost of living.
