The 2027 elections will require Lagosians to look beyond political noise and social-media popularity and ask a more important question: Who has the experience, competence and capacity to represent Lagos effectively?

The All Progressives Congress has answered that question with three tested candidates: Senator Tokunbo Abiru for Lagos East, Senator Wasiu Sanni Eshinlokun for Lagos Central and Senator Idiat Oluranti Adebule for Lagos West. All three were affirmed as the party’s candidates in the 2026 primaries.
Leading the team is Senator Tokunbo Abiru, the most senior of the three in Senate experience and the APC candidate for a third term in Lagos East.

Abiru brings an unusual combination of private-sector and public-sector experience. A former senior banker and corporate chief executive, he also served as Lagos Commissioner for Finance before entering the Senate. He now chairs the Senate Committee on Banking, Insurance and Other Financial Institutions and the Southern Senators Forum.

His strength is his understanding of finance, economic management, public administration and legislation – precisely the combination Lagos needs in Abuja.

Senator Wasiu Eshinlokun brings a different advantage: grassroots and legislative experience. His career spans local-government administration, Lagos State politics and the State House of Assembly, where he served as Deputy Speaker, before moving to the Senate. His current legislative responsibilities further connect him to Lagos’s critical maritime economy.

Senator Idiat Adebule brings executive and human-capital experience. An educationist and former Deputy Governor of Lagos State, she combines academic and administrative expertise with her current legislative responsibilities in the Senate.

The strength of this ticket lies in its complementarity.

Abiru brings economic and financial expertise.

Eshinlokun brings grassroots and legislative depth.

Adebule brings executive governance and education management experience.

Lagos is too important to be represented by people who merely know how to make political noise. As Nigeria’s commercial and economic powerhouse, the state needs legislators who understand policy, budgets, institutions, negotiation and governance.

That is why the 2027 contest should be about records, not rhetoric; competence, not theatrics; and capacity, not manufactured popularity.

The APC candidates have records that can be examined and debated.

They are not perfect – no politician is.

But they are tested hands with demonstrable experience in public service.

In 2027, Lagosians will make the final choice.

Our job is to present the candidates.

Their records will speak for them.

Tokunbo Abiru. Wasiu Eshinlokun. Idiat Adebule.

Three senatorial districts. Three tested hands. One commitment to effective representation for Lagos.

The APC has indeed put its best feet forward.
