The Lagos State House of Assembly, through its Committee on Physical Planning and Urban Development, has cautioned officials of the state Building Control Agency, LASBCA, against unethical practices.

The Committee tasked the officials to operate within the ambits of the law in discharging their duties.

Hon. Sylvester Ogunkelu, who chairs the Committee, gave the warning during a meeting with the district officials of the agency held at Alausa, Ikeja on Thursday, 18 January, 2024

According to the Ogunkelu, the House has received several complaints about the operations of the agency officials as they discharge their responsibilities.

The chairman said the House would continue to make laws that would positively affect citizens of the State.

“I implore you to discharge your duties with human face and respect the constitutional authority.

“The House is not here to engage in a witch-hunt, but to caution you as well as appreciate you,” he said.

A member of the Committee, Hon. Apata Samuel, while commending the General Manager of LASBCA, Mr. Gbolahan Oki, for doing well in office so far, implored the district officials to cooperate with the General Manager in abating the spate of demolition in the State.

Hon. Sanni Okanlawon, in his contribution, charged the officials to ensure a high level of professionalism in cases of demolition in order to avert unwarranted fatalities.

“Stop demolishing buildings that will cause problems and embarrassment for the State,” he cautioned.

Former Chairman of the Committee, Hon. Nureni Akinsanya, stressed the need for the officialLagos Assembly Cautions LABSCA Officials Over Unethical Practices to work as a team with the General Manager.
