Activists, who diligently participated in the arrest and subsequent prosecution and sentencing of a Lagos State-based medical doctor, Femi Olaleye in Nigeria have praised Justice Rahman Oshodi for the wonderful judgment delivered in October 2023, whereby he sentenced the pedophile to life imprisonment for sexual offences before the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division acquitted him on technical ground..
Reacting to the Friday, 5 December, 2025, arraignment of Dr Olaleye in the United Kingdom, the activists described it as a vindication of their stand on the crimes allegedly perpetrated by Dr Olaleye and hailed the Kent Police for the arrest and subsequent arraignment, which has led to his detention in prison until January 2, 2026 when his trial for the alleged sexual offences committed while working in the UK will commence.
The activists, in a press release issued on Saturday, 6 December, 2025, which was jointly signed by the Executive Director of the Centre Against Injustice and Domestic Violence (CAIDOV), Gbenga Soloki and that of Tonia Bruised But Not Broken Foundation, Anthonia Ojenagbon, praised Justice Rahman Oshodi for his judgement on the matter despite the fact that it was overturned by the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division.
They said, “we must commend Justice Rahman Oshodi for the wonderful job he is doing at the Lagos State Sexual Offences Court, especially on the case of Dr Femi Olaleye, who he sent to jail based on evidence presented by the survivor as well as the painstaking prosecution by the office of the Director of public Prosecution (DPP).
“Truly, with the likes of Justice Oshodi on the bench, the judiciary is the last hope of the common man, and a man of such pedigree deserves commendation, applause and praise for his diligence on this matter.”
It will be recalled that the medical doctor was arrested at the Heathrow Airport on Thursday, 27 November, 2025 on his arrival from a trip and was whisked away to Kent Police Station, where he was held till Friday.
He was arraigned on Friday, 5 December 5, 2025 at Medway Magistrate Court over allegations of sexual offences, which he allegedly committed while working as Obstetrics and Gynaecologist at Darent Valley Hospital under the Dartford Gravesham NHS Trust between January 2005 and September 2008.
It was alleged that the sexual offences were perpetrated in the hospital while he was working as a medical personnel.
The magistrate denied his bail application and ordered his remand till January 2, 2025, when the trial for the offences will commence.
Dr Femi Olaleye, 58 years old, was accused by his wife’s niece of defilement and sexual abuse, which spanned over 18 months in 2022.
He was reported to at Anthony Police Division and eventually handed life jail term by Justice Rahman Oshodi in 2023 after a rigorous trial that lasted almost a year, but was later discharged and acquitted by the Appeal Court, Lagos Division.
The activists however, appealed to the justices of the Supreme Court to carefully look into the appeal brought by the Lagos State Government against the acquittal of Dr Olaleye.
“The Lagos State Government should be commended for the appeal filed against the judgment of the Appeal Court. We wish to urge the Justices of the Supreme Court to carefully peruse the issues raised.
“The arraignment of Dr Olaleye in the United Kingdom indicated that he has a case to answer on allegation of being a serial pedophile and sexual offender,” the statement read.
