The Director General Lagos State Sports Commission, Hon. Lekan Fatodu has made public the initiative being championed by a leading Lagos Sports enterprise for the benefits of young talents in the state.
He wrote, “yesterday at the Commission, we bridged the gap between intellectual interrogation and grassroots pragmatism.

“It was a distinct pleasure to host the editorial team of UNILAG Sun, a publication of the Department of Mass Communication, University of Lagos (my great alma mater, and field profound questions from the brilliant editorial team of the UNILAG Sun led by their Editor-in-Chief, Mr Daniel.
“As an alumnus of the Department of Mass Communication, UNILAG, having my alma mater visit to interrogate our vision was a full-circle moment. Their “development-rooted” questions weren’t just an interview; they were a sophisticated dialogue on how strategic communication can catalyse human capacity growth and socio-economic advancement.

“From the ‘newsroom’ to the ‘pitch’, the momentum continued with Mr. Shola Opaleye, CEO of City Sports. Our conversation centred around a bottom-up development framework as a sustainable model for sports development, identifying and nurturing talent. To translate this vision into immediate impact, City Sports has committed to providing 1,000 free football boots to young players across Lagos.
“Whether engaging with the sharpest minds in academia or partnering with pragmatic private sector leaders, our objective remains singular; to accelerate actions that provide viable pathways for the next generation”.
Fatodu commended the state Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu for his commitment to lift sports in the state to a greater height.
“Our Governor has really invested in sports and the results of his administration’s investment is yielding fruitful dividends,” he said.
Fatodu stated further that the LSSC is ready to collaborate with partners who have genuine interests in contributing positively to the development of sports in the state.
