Motorists plying the Anthony Village corridor in Lagos will, for an unspecified period, have to contend with a temporary traffic diversion as the state government commences reconstruction of the bus stop’s road, a section that has repeatedly suffered damage from heavy rainfall.
The development followed the announcement of excavation works at Anthony Village Bus Stop by the Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, in a statement shared on his X handle on Tuesday, 4 August,2026 disclosing that the affected portion of the road would be reconstructed using interlocking stones to improve its durability and provide a lasting solution to the perennial damage.
He stated, “The Lagos State Ministry of Transportation wishes to inform the motoring public that excavation works are currently ongoing at Anthony Village Bus Stop. The project is aimed at providing a lasting solution to the section of the road that has been repeatedly damaged by heavy rainfall. As part of the intervention, the affected section will be reconstructed using interlocking stones to improve its durability.”
To enable the project to proceed safely, the state government announced a temporary traffic management plan affecting motorists using the corridor, with several routes rendered impassable for the duration of the works.
According to the statement, motorists travelling from Fadeyi and intending to access the Apapa-Oshodi Expressway through Anthony Village would not be able to use the route until the project is completed.
Similarly, motorists planning to use the Anthony Village Bus Stop service lane to connect to Oshodi were advised to avoid the route and remain on the expressway before connecting through an alternative road further ahead.
The government also disclosed that motorists travelling from Oshodi and intending to access Anthony–Ikorodu Road through Anthony Village should note that there is currently no through road at the project location.
Consequently, the ministry advised motorists to plan their journeys in advance, avoid Anthony Village Bus Stop and the affected service lane where possible, and make use of alternative routes to minimise delays.
It appealed to road users for patience and cooperation throughout the reconstruction period, assuring that the inconvenience was necessary to guarantee a more durable road for commuters in the long run.
“The Lagos State Government appreciates the understanding and cooperation of all road users during the period of the project,” the statement added.
