Lakurawa terrorist group in Hurumi Forest, on Thursday, 1 May, 2025, killed at least 13 huntersin Talewa ward, Tangaza Local Government Area of Sokoto State.
It was gathered that the hunters were ambushed during a seasonal hunting spree in the area on Thursday, 1 May, 2025
It was also gathered thatthe hunters who were from different communities of the LGA were ambushed by the criminals at about noon during their annual hunting trip.
A source said the hunters had defied warnings from local authorities over the activities of terrorists in the area.
Despite having their Dane guns and dogs, they walked directly into the terrorists’ enclave deep inside the forest.
“Three bodies have been recovered so far, while 10 remain unaccounted for. Some survivors have returned home,” a resident of Tangaza said.
