In a remarkable achievement, Mrs. Bolanle Riskat Adeniran, the Directorof Procurement at Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA), stood in the
spotlight at the 5th Africa Procurement and Supply Chain Awards 2023.
The event, which took place at the Oriental Hotel in Victoria Island, was put in place to celebrate the best in procurement across Africa.
Mrs. Adeniran, since assuming office as the head of the ProcurementDepartment, has worked assiduously to ensure that LAWMA aligns withoutlined procurement principles in the state, with the overall aim ofachieving the mandate of making Lagos cleaner and livable for all.
Adeniran’s recognition serves as a shining example of dedication,expertise and professionalism in procurement, as her accomplishment notonly boosts LAWMA’s reputation but also sets a benchmark for procurement
professionals all over Africa.
She expressed appreciation to the organisers of the event for therecognition, as “a professional with exemplary performance inprocurement”, with the commitment to keep discharging her duties, toensure the Authority achieve its procurement goals.
One of the highlights of the event was Lagos State’s win as the BestState in Procurement Compliance, underscoring the state’s commitment totransparent and responsible procurement practices.
Mr. Fatai Idowu Onafowote, the Director-General of the Lagos StatePublic Procurement Agency, also secured a top honor as he was namedPublic Sector Procurement Personality of the Year.
Mr. Emem James Kanico, National President of the Association of PublicProcurement Professionals of Nigeria (APPON) spoke on the theme of theevent, “Celebrating the Achievements of Africa’s Supply Chain andProcurement Sector”, stressing the importance of proper procurementpractices for good governance and urged governments at all levels tosupport transparent and effective public procurement.
The event gathered professionals from different parts of Africa,including Nigeria, Ghana, the Gambia, and Tanzania, all celebratingexcellence in procurement and supply chain management.
