We, Concerned Youths of Eti Osa, write with great sense of responsibility and humility to express our displeasure and grievances by one of our father and leader in Eti-Osa LGA APC in person of OMOOBA MURPHY ADETORO who is hell bent on imposing his daughter ALIMAT ADEOLA ADETORO the current vice chairman Eti-Osa LGA.
Information at our disposal reveals that OMOOBA MURPHY ADETORO and some party stalwarts in Eti-Osa have intention to impose his daughter as the party candidate/flag bearer in the forthcoming Local Government elections slated for 12th July 2025.
We would like to call on all party leaders at all levels, the general public and lovers of our party APC to hear our plights, cry, grievances and come to our aid over the purported imposition of ALIMAT ADEOLA ADETORO by her father OMOOBA MURPHY ADETORO, this is injustice that’s about to be meted to other aspirants who have long worked and served our party diligently over the years.
It’s worthy of note that same GAC member OMOOBA MURPHY ADETORO from WARD A IKATE ELEGUSHI was a two (2) term Chairman of Eti-Osa LGA, after his successful tenure of 6 years as chairman, his successor, Hon. Anofiu Olanrewaju Elegushi from Ward A, Ikate Elegushi was elected Executive Chairman for 2 term, period of 6 years.
When the tenure of Hon. Anofiu Elegushi came to an end, the former Governor of Lagos State, H.E Akinwunmi Ambode appointed Hon. Alaba Ajayi as Executive Secretary and Hon. ALIMAT ADEOLA ADETORO (from Ward A, Ikate Elegushi)as Deputy Executive Secretary respective to saddle the affairs of the council.
Then came the appointment of Hon. Princess Abiodun Elegushi as Sole Administrator for a period of 1 year (note; Princess Abiodun Elegushi also from Ward A, Ikate Elegushi) by H.E. Akinwunmi Ambode. Before Hon. Saheed Bankole was elected Executive Chairman Eti-Osa LGA.
The current plot by OMOOBA MURPHY ADETORO is to have Saheed Bankole succeeded by ALIMAT ADEOLA ADETORO, in a conspiratorial fashion that makes succession to the leadership position look like a birthright of Ward A to the detriment of other Wards whose members also worked for the party during elections periods and post elections periods.
It would be recalled vividly that WARD A Ikate Elegushi alone out of the 5 wards in Eti-Osa had produced more political appointees and electives public office holders than other Wards in Eti-Osa LGA.
The breakdown is as follows
1. OMOOBA MURPHY ADETORO 6 years as chairman Eti-Osa
2. Hon. Anofiu Elegushi 6 years as chairman Eti-Osa.
3. HON. ALIMAT ADEOLA ADETORO 1 and half years as Deputy Executive Secretary Eti-Osa
4. Hon. Princess Abiodun Elegushi 1 year as Sole Administrator Eti-Osa.
5. HON. ALIMAT ADEOLA ADETORO 8years as VICE CHAIRMAN Eti-Osa whose tenure will end in July 2025
6. Hon. Anofiu Elegushi 4 years as S.A CBD and SA Transport to the Governor
7. Hon. Anofiu Elegushi 4 years commissioner Home Affairs.
8. Currently Hon. Oyekanmi Elegushi is the G.M Lagos State Mineral Infrastructure Maintenance (LASIMRA)
9. Hon. Anofiu Elegushi commissioner National Hajj commission, Abuja appointed by H.E PBAT.
Put together, WARD A, Ikate Elegushi have been in public office for solid two decades (20 years), while other Wards are left unrepresented.
Party members and concerned youth of Eti-Osa are worried and concerned that OMOOBA MURPHY ADETORO from Ward A wants to impose his daughter also from Ward A on the good people of Eti-Osa LGA.
A party member in Ward A Eti-Osa, who preferred his name not to be mentioned wondered why the hijack of the chairmanship position by OMOOBA MURPHY ADETORO and exclusion of other Wards to produce the next chairman of Eti-Osa.
Party members also complained that the current vice chairmanship slot/position was even hijacked by Omooba Murphy Adetoro and given to her daughter ALIMAT ADEOLA ADETORO who was called from disapora to come take the position and such has no contributions to the party.
A party member lamented: “What kind of dirty politics is going on in Eti-Osa, politics of total annihilation, Politics of birth right, bitterness, and total exclusion of other Wards?”
According to him, “If Asiwaju Tinubu had played similar politics, he wouldn’t have become president of Nigeria today. Life is always about give and take. No champion reigneth for ever.
OMOOBA MURPHY ADETORO overbearing influence in the party is getting out of hand and party members urged him not to use his influence as GAC member to over ride the interest of other aspirants from other Wards in Eti-Osa LGA.
The question is, why must it be only him all the time, to the extent he was nicknamed “Mr Arrangee, it’s also on record that he’s the same person that overturned the House of Assembly Primary elections in 2011 that produced late Hon. Alimi Kazeem Ademola (kadeco) and wanted to give the ticket to one Mr. Caxton Martins from Ikoyi Obalende LCDA, before party members surrounded his house and asked to return the ticket back to the winner of the primary in person of late Hon. Alimi Kazeem Ademola. We Party members don’t want a repeat of what happened in 2011.
Reason we are calling on all Party leaders to prevail on OMOOBA MURPHY ADETORO to allow a democratic process take place where popular candidate would emerged.
This is not good for our fledging democracy Asiwaju fought for. People of other wards must be carried along and we urged our party leaders to allow free, fair, credible and transparent primary elections and allow the will of the people to prevail in Eti-Osa.
