The Ekiti State Police Command on Wednesday, 15 January, 2025 arraigned a 30-year-old man, Adeniyi Akinpelu before an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court presided over by Mrs Taiwo Ajibade, for allegedly stealing pigs.
The defendant whose residential address was not provided, is standing trial on a charge of stealing.

The prosecutor, Insp Olubu Apata, told the court that the defendant committed the offence between 12 October, 2024 and 3 December, 2024 in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital
Apata, who said the defendant stole five pigs that were kept in his care, added that the pigs belong to the complainant, one Mr Balogun Opeyemi.

The police prosecutor said the offence contravened Section 302 (1) (a) of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State, 2021, just as he also urged the court to adjourn the case to enable him study the file and assemble his witnesses.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge preferred against him.
Counsel to the defendant, Mr Opeyemi Esan, urged the court to grant the defendant bail with a promise that he would not jump bail.
In her ruling, the Chief Magistrate Ajibade, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N200,000 with one surety in like sum.
She adjourned the case until 14 February, 2025 for further hearing.
