What started as a playful challenge among friends has ended in tragedy after a young man, identified only as Gbenga, lost his life while attempting to lift four bags of cement at once.
The incident occurred Saturday, 20 September, 2025, during a bet among friends, who dared each other to carry multiple cement bags with their mobile phones as the prize.

Each bag weighed about 50kg, bringing the total load to 200kg — almost three times the average man’s body weight.
Driven by adrenaline and the desire to prove himself, Gbenga attempted the stunt. A now-viral video shows him managing to lift the bags briefly before collapsing under the crushing weight. Witnesses said the impact left him unable to move or speak, suggesting severe damage to his spine and nervous system.
His friends, panicked, tried to revive him by pouring water on his body and pulling him up, but their efforts proved futile. By Wednesday, 24 September, 2025, Gbenga succumbed to his injuries, leaving his family and community in mourning.
