Tragedy occurred in the Ijeun Tuntun area of Abeokuta, Ogun State as man identified as Fatai Hamzat allegedly hanged himself.
It was gathered that Hamzat was found hanging from a rope tied to a ceiling fan in his apartment on Oremeji Street.
The Ogun Police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, who confirmed the sad development to an online medium, said the deceased was discovered by a neighbor around 7 a.m. on Friday, 29 November, 2024.
According to Odutola, a neighbor noticed Hamzat’s motorcycle parked in the compound and, upon checking on him, found the door locked from the inside. After repeated knocking with no response, the neighbors, including one identified as Ogunsola, forced open a window and found Hamzat hanging from the ceiling fan.
The state police image-maker stated that investigations are ongoing, and the body has been taken to a nearby hospital morgue for an autopsy.
“The deceased was found hanging in his apartment after several attempts to reach him failed. An investigation into the incident is ongoing,” Odutola said.
