The Nigeria Agricultural Quarantine Service has commenced recruitment into various positions across its Superintendent, Inspectorate and Assistant cadres, with applications to be submitted online only through the agency’s official portal.

The recruitment opens vacancies for candidates with qualifications ranging from SSCE, NECO or GCE to OND, NCE and university degrees, depending on the position applied for, with the process running from July 28 to August 15, 2026.

Under the Superintendent cadre, the agency is recruiting for Chief Superintendent of Quarantine, requiring a first degree in Veterinary Medicine and a NYSC discharge certificate; Deputy Superintendent of Quarantine, requiring a first degree in Law or a Master’s in another field; and Assistant Superintendent of Quarantine II, requiring a first degree from a recognised institution.

For the Inspectorate cadre, covering Inspector of Quarantine I to III, applicants need an OND or NCE certificate for general duty roles. Under the Assistant cadre, applicants for Quarantine Assistant I to III require SSCE, NECO or GCE O’Level certificates with a minimum of five credits in not more than two sittings, including English and Mathematics.

The agency stipulated that applicants must be Nigerian by birth, possess a National Identity Number, be medically fit, present a fitness certificate from a government hospital, and pass a drug test. They must also be of good character, free of criminal convictions, and not belong to any secret society or cult.

Other requirements include freedom from financial embarrassment, a minimum height of 1.55 metres for females and 1.65 metres for males, a minimum chest measurement of 0.87 metres for men, and computer literacy. The agency warned that any certificate not declared at the recruitment centre would not be accepted afterward.

It further listed physical conditions that would disqualify applicants, including speech impediments, dental malformation, knock knees, bow legs, flat foot, limb deformities, deformed hands, defective eyesight, amputation, hearing impairment, hunched back and obesity, adding that pregnant women need not apply given the rigour of the physical exercise involved.

Shortlisted candidates would face a computer-based test, with the date to be communicated later. The agency stressed that applications must be submitted within two weeks of publication, warning that late or improper applications would not be entertained, and that the process remained free of charge.

Key dates listed include applications opening July 28 and closing August 10, 2026, shortlisting on August 13, and CBT screening and interviews on August 15, 2026.

The advertisement was signed by the Acting Director of Human Resources, Issaka Ahmed, for the Board Chairman.
