The Onibudo of Aiyetoro-Budo, Aiyetoro, Ogun State,Oba Adewunmi Adeniji Odutala has urged Nigerians, particularly youths, to vote for the right candidate to lead the country in the forthcoming 2023 presidential election. The monarch advised them against voting for those with bad records in leadership. He spoke during a prayer walk tagged: " Aiyetoro Prayer Walk", at the weekend in Ogun State. While warning youths against political apathy, Odutala said: "Youths should vote without fear or favour; without collecting bribes or being influenced. They should vote wisely. "Make sure you 'shine your eyes'. You cannot just sit at the corner of your room and say Nigeria is bad. Get your permanent voters' card and change the narrative. Be involved in the political process." The monarch advised government to rule with the fear of God and ensure the country makes progress. "Our government should rule with the fear of God. Nigeria belongs to all of us.Let our leaders rule with all honesty." Odutala, who noted that the programme would be held annually every Good Friday from next year, said it was aimed at interceding for Nigeria, Ogun State and the community in general. He said the prayer walk was imperative in face of insecurity, banditry and bloodshed in the country. "This is symbolic at this time. We want God to intervene in our situation in this country. We want God to continue to reign in our land and allow peace that surpasses human understanding rule our land forever," he said. Odutala stated that his community was setting a precedent for others to follow. "We are setting an example for other communities to emulate. If every kingdom shall rise with the youths to call on God, insecurity, terrorism and bloodshed will cease," he said.
